Fundraising to Support Displaced Ukrainian Families

Dear Skateboarding Community,

As I write this, over 115,000 refugees (4/2 update - 2 million) have already crossed the border from Ukraine into Poland, seeking safety and shelter for themselves and their children. They traveled dozens of miles on foot in the dead of winter and were forced to leave their husbands, brothers and fathers behind. Making it to Poland has been the focus of these women and children as anyone from Ukraine is allowed entry into Poland, even those who do not hold valid passports. Thanks to organizations such as Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) refugees are arriving to Poland greeted with hot tea, food, shelter, medical attention and basic goods.

The coming weeks may prove critical for refugees and the 5 million people living along the 420 km-long front line. Nearly 3 million of them are in need of humanitarian aid. To a large extent, they are sick, lonely elderly women who did not want to or could not leave their homes. Children and adults who have suffered as a result of a landmine explosion also need special support.

As a Polish citizen, with family located near the border, this cause is very near and dear to my heart. They are witnessing first-hand how scared and vulnerable these individuals are, especially the children. Many Poles are voluntarily housing refugees and donating whatever goods they can. I have spoken to individuals on the ground and done my research to ensure that this will be the best nonprofit to help the women and children who have been displaced from Ukraine as well as any Ukrainians who have been injured and have come to Poland to seek safety and medical attention.

Our intent through Exposure has always been to use skateboarding as a vehicle to help those in need. I know that it may feel as though this crisis is worlds away, and that many of us would like to help, but are not sure how. This fundraiser was started to ensure our community members that their money will go to the right place (and that their donations can be used for tax purposes). 100% of funds collected here will go directly to PAH's effort to help Ukrainian refugees.

If you prefer, you can give directly to PAH here: https://www.pah.org.pl/wplac/?enable_cookies=all. Please consider helping. Just sharing this fundraiser through your own social media platforms is of great help as well.

Thank you,

Amelia Brodka
